Conditions of participation for the SPIEGELBLANK photo competition

SPIEGELBLANK is looking for photographs that show why people like working at SPIEGELBLANK and what they associate with the company. Creativity is given free rein in the implementation.

I. Acceptance of the conditions of participation
Participation in the competition is conditional upon acceptance of the conditions of participation set out below. By submitting an entry, participants expressly and bindingly accept these conditions of participation.

II. Eligibility
Persons residing in Germany are eligible to participate. Members of the jury, trainees involved in the organization and planning of this competition, and persons who do not work for SPIEGELBLANK are excluded from participation.

By submitting an entry, the participants assure that
a.) they are personally and exclusively the author of the submitted photograph
b.)the persons depicted in the photographs agree to the photographs and their use in the context of this competition
c.)the submitted contributions are free of third party rights.

In this respect, the participants indemnify SPIEGELBLANK against any claims by third parties. Participants who are minors must submit a written declaration of consent from a parent or guardian with the submission of an entry.

III. Requirements for the competition entry
Each participant may submit a maximum of one entry to the competition. Group photographs will be counted as one entry for each person to be seen.

IV. Submission
Contest entries will be submitted online via the email address fotowettbewerb@spiegelblank.de.
The deadline for submission is April 30, 2023. Entries received at the email address after the stated deadline will not be considered.

V. Right of use
By submitting the entry, participants grant SPIEGELBLANK the free, simple right of use, unlimited in time and space, to archive the submitted work in analog and digital form and to use it for public relations purposes (for example, on websites, in social media). SPIEGELBLANK does not generate any income from any use of the competition images for public relations purposes. The right to their own use and exploitation of the submitted entries in other contexts remains unaffected by the participants. The company SPIEGELBLANK plans to publish the winning photographs of the competition on the SPIEGELBLANK Instagram. Express reference is made to the associated transfer of rights of use in accordance with the Instagram terms of use.

If participants do not wish to consent to the posting on the aforementioned Instagram pages, they have the option of preventing this by marking this accordingly when submitting their entry to the competition. This cannot be made up for at a later date. In all the above-mentioned cases, SPIEGELBLANK undertakes to identify and name the authors. Participants have no claim to publication by SPIEGELBLANK.

VI. Exclusion from participation
Excluded from participation are contributions that have no recognizable connection to the topic of the competition; that violate applicable law; that contain insults, obscenities, personal attacks, racist, anti-Semitic, anti-gypsy, homophobic or sexist statements; that contain vulgar, abusive or hateful images or language; that violate the rights of third parties, especially copyrights; with commercial, advertising or other PR content. In the event of a violation of these conditions of participation – even if it becomes known subsequently – SPIEGELBLANK reserves the right to exclude persons from the competition and to reclaim any prizes that may have been awarded.

VII. Prizes
A jury selected by SPIEGELBLANK will award a total of 28 prizes.

Overview of the prizes:
1st prize: 500 euros for a furniture store
2nd prize: 200 euros for a grocery store
3rd prize: 100 euros for a visit to the cinema

Further prizes: 25 times a „Wünsch Dir was“ voucher worth 25 euros.

VIII. Data protection
SPIEGELBLANK takes the protection of personal data very seriously. The following is a detailed description of the purpose for which the participants‘ data is used and the route it takes.

1. Nature of the data
SPIEGELBLANK only requires the data necessary for the evaluation of the competition. In addition to the contest entry, this includes last name, first name and e-mail address. In the case of underage participants, a declaration of consent from a parent or guardian is also required.

2. Purpose of the data
The data collected will be used solely for the purpose of conducting and evaluating the competition. SPIEGELBLANK will not publish any personal data.

3. Transmission of data and access to data
The data of the participants will be secured against unauthorized access. Only members of the jury and the persons involved in the planning of the competition have access to the data.

4. Storage of the data
There will be no further use of the participants‘ data after the end of the competition.

5. Handling of the data
All employees of SPIEGELBLANK who come into contact with personal data are bound to secrecy. Personal data will only be passed on to third parties with the express consent of the participant.

IX. Liability
Any liability of the company SPIEGELBLANK in connection with the photo competition, regardless of the legal grounds, is – as far as legally permissible – limited to cases of intent or gross negligence.

X. Legal recourse
The legal process is excluded.
